Darren Marshment:
Darren started his professional IT career in London, England in 1987 and worked with leading clothing suppliers for 15 years, including Como Holdings (Armani/Donna Karan/Bagutta), InWear/Matinique, Fifth Avenue, Diesel, Tommy Hilfiger, Pepe Jeans, World Design & Trade (Firetrap/Full Circle/Sonneti), and Nike.
Through the 1990's, Darren worked with clients based in Scotland, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Australia, and USA. Before arriving in Canada, Darren worked his way through UNIX technical support, system design, customer support, training, business analysis, data analysis, hardware and software technician and, when he left England in 2000, he was managing projects, accounts, and products on a global level.
Darren started DM Computer Services in Montreal, Canada in 2003, following wide support of his computer phone-in show on CBC Radio. Now, the company has over 200 clients based in Montreal and across Canada, and Darren still makes sure he is involved in every project and with every client.
Kate Arthur:
Originally from the UK, Kate spent her childhood overseas in South America, Africa, and the Middle East. Her family settled in Montreal in the 1980's and, as soon as she graduated from Concordia University in 1995, Kate was off travelling again. First stop was for work in the UK, where she met now-husband Darren Marshment and soon after, the two were working and living in Australia, Asia and the United States.
Kate's career as a Communications professional lead her into the entertainment industry, where she worked with leading directors, producers, comedians and actors in theatre, television, film and radio, throughout Europe and Canada.
When Kate and Darren moved to Montreal in 2001, Kate joined CBC/Radio-Canada while Darren started his IT business. In 2008, as the need for a marketing and communications expert grew at DM Computer Services Inc., Kate resigned from her position as Communications Manager at CBC/Radio-Canada to partner with Darren and begin a new career in the IT industry.
George Pardalis:
George's career began at Simon Fraser University: volunteering at SFU's radio station and newspaper. Having written and designed for the Peak at SFU, the Gleaner and the popular independent Terminal City—which he helped launch—he honed his design skills on logos, page layout and illustration. During the 90s, he worked at Green Thumb Theatre, Vancouver Moving Theatre and Peter Fox Shoes, for which he designed innovative ads for publication in such hip, respectable magazines as Interview, Paper Magazine, Details and Detour.
In 1993 he began working in web design, which he explored deeper after moving to Montreal in 1997, adding database work, programming and CMS development to his toolbelt. In 2008, he met with Darren Marshment while the two worked together on the Canadian Internation Organ Competition project and he's brought his colourful past to DM Computer Services officially in 2009.
His other activities over the years include DJing for various warehouse gigs and clubs, including Vancouver's Channel 1 Klub, the Luv-a-fair, Graceland—where he hosted a weekly benefit night for Amnesty International—and the Eclipse as well as volunteering for many years for the Vancouver International Film Festival, the Ridge Theatre and Maison Plein Coeur, a Montreal community AIDS organization.
